Each day we are confronted with decisions that must be made.
Sometimes, we make the right decisions. Other times, however, we make poor choices. Sometimes our brain works in both directions at once – sometimes making us incapable of making a decision and uncertain about which topic should take priority. Feeling lost in life? It is possible for this feeling to occur at times.
If this is true, then we need an “Inner Compass,” or Inner Guide, to direct our lives. As a waypoint in life, you can use this coordinate as guidance towards reaching your desired destination.
In today’s fast-paced environment, having a clear direction is essential. There are many distractions around us which can directly or indirectly influence us; this causes us to lose focus and make poor decisions.
How can we discover our inner compass?
Before anything else, it is essential for you to master the three components of your internal compass.
1. Values
2. Belief
3. Principles
These three components make up who we are as individuals. What do we believe in, what are our principles? These may be well-known to some while others might not be so certain.
Create an internal compass in five easy steps!
1. Define Your Values. What matters most to you in life? What are your objectives for living?
2. Setting goals is key to staying motivated and focused. Consider both short-term and long-term targets, making sure they align with our values. Moreover, create a plan of action to reach that objective.
3. Trust your instincts. Pay attention to what you feel inside.
4. Mindfulness allows us to recognize thoughts and feelings as they arise in the moment, increasing our awareness of who truly we are. With mindfulness, we can become aware of our true selves.
5. Create a positive environment is essential. Your thoughts and actions are shaped by those around you; surround yourself with people who uphold our values and strive for similar objectives.
A strong inner compass is essential for living life with purpose and direction.
Making informed decisions and reaching our objectives allows us to live life more satisfyingly and purposefully. You can identify your values, set objectives, listen to your intuition, practice mindfulness and surround yourself with encouraging people. With an inner compass in place, you can become the best version of yourself.
